Thank you Osmo for your time here in Minnesota. I wish it could have been longer.

Members of the Minnesota Orchestra board and negotiating committee for the musicians, you are all held collectively responsible for this state. You broke it, you fix it.

In the meantime. I'll go listen to the Sibelius 3, 6, 7 recording. Oh wait, it was supposed to be recorded last month.

One does NOT shoot a congresswoman (or congressman) one disagrees with. Those of us living in Minnesota may have just cause with Ms. Bachmann, but still... resist the temptation folks. Unlike the goddamn moron in Arizona Saturday.

Lights!!!! [Jul. 18th, 2010|09:01 pm]

The storms last evening took out the feeder line behind the house - about four houses up. This was the first time in a couple of years. So I guess we'll be getting a trim crew coming through again.

Power was out for 23 hours. Friends did round up a generator this morning, so the food got a few hours of freezing/cooling.

Snow tonight - 2 to 4 inches. Will be nice.

Whatever I was coming down with Friday made a rapid departure. A long nap Friday afternoon and a good night's sleep had it pretty well knocked out. So naturally Ewa decided to stress test her new hubby again. We ended up out in a bar in Minnetonka listening to a blues band I heard back in high school. We ended up home about 2 AM.

And chancing fate, it was time to bury the first day ski urge. Beautiful day - a little cloudy, but still nice. Only skied for a few hours, and made sure King's was still making really good hamburgers on the way back.

I do want to weigh in on the USBP flap with Dr. Watts with McCullum, Franken, and Klobuchar. Given circumstances with my wife and probable future travel I do not want something like this occurring again; it might be me or someone I love.

Time Machine Please? [Dec. 6th, 2009|01:09 pm]

[Current Mood |pleasedpleased]

The local orchestra just announced next years schedule. Much glorious music is coming. However, the reason I want a time machine is they've also announced the next in their recordings (which have all been amazing). Yup, the thing we thought wouldn't happen is. We're getting a Sibelius 2nd and 5th!

Now to go watch crazy guys attempt to bomb the Birds of Prey. Fools.

Looking for suggestions to update the camera. Looking for a mid to upper end point and shoot (a DSLR of any size is too much beast).

Concert update [Sep. 25th, 2009|11:56 pm]

[Current Music |Dogs happy I'm home...]

Well, Mr. Hough sure can play the ivories. Tchaikovsky's Piano Fantasy went really well, except for the one dude who had to scrape his chair across the floor during the quiet moments in the first movement monster cadenza (or whatever you want to call it).
I miss Jorja already. Sarah as concertmaster gets a harsher sound out of the firsts, which was OK with the Lt Kije Suite, but wasn't what I was expecting in Sleeping Beauty. Ah well.

Still Osmo made the night. I've heard Kije waay too many times, and almost walked out for the first piece.

Next week we finally get Hough doing the Tchaikovsky 1st. Yum.......
